Pay Confidential: The cost of switching from banking to private equity

Tempted by a switch from banking to private equity? If you?re at the start of your career in the City then it could certainly make financial sense. Pay data from salary benchmarking site Emolument.com suggests that at associate (£135k vs £113k) and VP (£217k vs £201k) level, those working at private equity firms take home more in combined salary and bonuses every year (see chart).
